Prof. Zi\u00f3\u0142kowski co-edited special issues of Theatre, Dance and Performance Training<\/em> (Martial Arts Revisited<\/em>, vol. 13, no. 3, 2022; with Prof. Paul Allain, University of Kent, Canterbury, UK); Polish Theatre Perspectives <\/em>(Voices from Within: Grotowski\u2019s Polish Collaborators<\/em>, 2015; with Prof. Allain); Performance Research<\/em> (On Performatics<\/em>, vol. 13, no. 2, 2008; with Prof. Richard Gough from the Aberystwyth University, UK) and Contemporary Theatre Review<\/em> (Polish Theatre after 1989: Beyond Borders<\/em>, vol. 15, no. 1, 2005; with Prof. Allain).<\/p>\n
\nHe authored Polish monographs on Peter Brook (Teatr Bezpo\u015bredni Petera Brooka<\/em> [The Immediate Theatre of Peter Brook], Gda\u0144sk: s\u0142owo\/obraz terytoria, 2000) and Jerzy Grotowski (Gu\u015blarz i eremita. Jerzy Grotowski: od wyk\u0142ad\u00f3w rzymskich (1982) do paryskich (1997\u20131998)<\/em> [Sorcerer and Hermit: Jerzy Grotowski from Rome (1982) to Paris (1997\u201398) lectures], Wroc\u0142aw: The Grotowski Institute, 2007). He also translated Peter Brook\u2019s Shifting Point <\/em>[Ruchomy punkt<\/em>] and Jerzy Grotowski\u2019s Towards a Poor Theatre <\/em>[Ku teatrowi ubogiemu<\/em>] into Polish.<\/p>\nFor his monograph on Brook\u2019s theatre he received an award from the Polish section of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) for the best Polish book on theatre published in 2000.<\/p>\n
With Prof. Allain and Prof. Georges Banu (Sorbonne Nouvelle \u2013 Paris II, France) he co-edited Brook\u2019s anthology With Grotowski: Theatre is Just a Form<\/em> (Wroc\u0142aw: The Grotowski Institute, 2009), published also in Farsi, French, and Polish.<\/p>\n
\nProf. Zi\u00f3\u0142kowski has received awards and scholarships from the British Council (1994\u201395), the City of Pozna\u0144 (1996), the Foundation for Polish Science (1998), the Fulbright Foundation (2002\u201303), and the president of Adam Mickiewicz University (2009, 2013, 2019).<\/p>\n
\nFrom 2004 to 2009, he worked as Programme Director of the Grotowski Centre and later the Grotowski Institute in Wroc\u0142aw where he developed, among others, its publication activities, co-created the artisanal course for actors Atelier (2007\u201309), and co-programmed the Grotowski UNESCO Year 2009.<\/p>\n
\nHe carried out theatre explorations in the framework of Bureau for Theatre Research (1991\u20132001) and Theatre Rosa (2009\u201311) in Pozna\u0144.<\/p>\n
He also directed and led acting work sessions internationally (in Armenia, Austria, Catalonia, Chile, China, England, Iran, Malta, Romania, and South Korea).<\/p>\n
From 2012 to 2017, he directed the Studio (later Study) ROSA and the Acting Techniques Intensive Seminar ATIS in Pozna\u0144. In the Study ROSA, he directed two theatre performances: TAZM<\/em> Silence of Light <\/em>(2012\u201316) and HEART<\/em> Silence of Polygon <\/em>(2015\u201316). The first referred to Tahar Ben Jelloun\u2019s fact-based novel This Blinding Absence of Light<\/em> about a cruel Moroccan prison of Tazmamart. The second was based on the motifs from the play Scorched <\/em>by Wajdi Mouwad about the destructive impact of war on individual human lives.<\/p>\nIn 2015\u201316, he initiated and directed the Study ROSA\u2019s theatre exploration Feeling<\/em> THE<\/em> PULSE<\/em>. In its frame, he published his artistic travelogue Dwug\u0142os<\/em> O CISZY <\/em>([Duet ON SILENCE], Wroc\u0142aw, 2016) and reflections Texts<\/em> FROM THE HEART <\/em>(in Polish and in English, Wroc\u0142aw, 2016; updated editions in 2021).<\/p>\nHe co-created and consulted theatre works by artists from Catalonia, Chile, Iran, and Romania.<\/p>\n
